I joined BDO as an intern in the autumn of 2025 while I was still a student, alongside a fellow student, before we both transitioned into permanent roles at BDO. From the very beginning, the way we were welcomed made me confident that BDO was the place where I wanted to build my career.

From the day I walked through the doors, everyone was open, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping us learn and grow. No question felt too small, and we were included in client and project work, as well as the social side of things. I truly felt like part of the group, and my experience is representative of BDO’s unique culture. Thinking beyond to create real value

For me, thinking beyond means being a trusted partner for our clients, someone they can rely on to take initiative, introduce new ideas, and suggest innovative solutions. This can include leveraging new technologies in the market to make their solutions more cost effective or create even greater value in other ways.

We actively challenge and inspire our clients by bringing fresh perspectives and ideas to the table beyond what they initially see themselves. By combining curiosity with strong expertise, we explore new possibilities and better ways of working. This mindset keeps us proactive internally while helping our clients stay ahead in an ever-evolving tech landscape.

A good example from my team is how we work with AI. AI is a broad and complex area, and for many companies it’s still something new. It’s easy to focus only on your own part of the work, but I’m lucky to have colleagues with expertise across many different aspects of AI. Some are strong on strategy and business understanding, others on technology, and some focus on the risks that come with Implementing AI solutions. By working closely together and sharing perspectives, we’re able to see the bigger picture and support our clients in the best possible way.


Reaching higher through curiosity and opportunity

At BDO, you’re encouraged from the very start to explore different projects and find areas where you can truly thrive. I’ve learned a huge amount, both during my internship and after transitioning into a full-time role. There hasn’t been a single day where I haven’t learned something new. We build on each other’s strengths, and everyone is given the opportunity to work with their passion. This creates continuous development for all of us. It allows us to step into areas where we want to grow our skills, with others supporting and learning alongside us. Equally, it gives me the opportunity to support others in areas where they want to develop.

Right now, I’m diving into AI technology and how we can implement these solutions in client systems. It’s incredibly motivating going to work knowing that I get to develop skills in areas I’m genuinely passionate about. Even though I’m relatively new, I’m trusted with advanced technologies and complex projects, and I’m given real ownership of our deliveries. It gives my job a sense of meaning.

Amalie’s advice to anyone considering a career at BDO

To anyone considering a career at BDO, my advice would be to believe in yourself and your capabilities, you have far more to offer than you might think. Dare to take the leap. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but at BDO, it truly is.
